How Azerbaijani media covered the agreement to speed up border delimitation
Leading Azerbaijani outlets, including APA, Report.az, Trend and Axar, reported on 30 October that Georgia and Azerbaijan had agreed to speed up border delimitation and demarcation, attributing the news entirely to Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. None of them reported a statement on the border from Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov. Coverage of the commission meeting in Sighnaghi focused instead on trade, which rose 42% in the first nine months, and a planned joint border crossing at Aghstafa–Gardabani. Earlier, on 7 October, the newspaper Yeni Müsavat wrote that about 166 km of the border is still not agreed and that Baku and Tbilisi give different lengths for it (480 km and 446 km). The paper calls the area around the David Gareji monastery 'Keshikchidag', and quoted former finance minister Fikret Yusifov warning that the border must not become a source of confrontation.
