Czechia extends its special farm-work visa to 2028 — Georgian citizens remain eligible
On 19 October the Czech government extended its special work visa programme for agriculture, food processing and forestry until 31 December 2028, on unchanged terms. Up to 2,500 applications a year are allowed: 1,500 for Ukrainian citizens and about 1,000 combined for citizens of Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova and North Macedonia. The employer must take part in the Ministry of Agriculture's programme, and employment agencies cannot act as employers. The visa is issued for up to one year and cannot be extended, and time spent on it does not count toward permanent residence; workers may apply again. The change was proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture, headed by Martin Šebestyán (SPD); Czech farming is short of about 5,000 workers.
