Freedom House downgrades Georgia's internet to 'Partly Free'
In Freedom on the Net 2026, Freedom House lowered Georgia's score from 70 to 68 and moved it from 'Free' to 'Partly Free' for the first time since 2012. It cites the suppression of online activism and speech critical of Georgian Dream, including fines on journalists over Facebook posts.
