Kobakhidze calls EU ambassador a 'tragic figure' and rejects the Commission's report
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on 5 November called EU Ambassador Paweł Herczyński a 'tragic figure' — 'even more tragic' than his predecessor Carl Hartzell — and accused him of interfering in Georgia's elections and backing the radical opposition. Kobakhidze said the government was only responding to criticism he called shameful and unsubstantiated. The remarks came a day after the European Commission published its 2026 report on Georgia; according to SOVA, the prime minister also called the report's assessments shameful and the accusations against Georgian Dream baseless.
The accusations are the prime minister's own claims.
