Germany flies an Open Skies observation mission over Georgia
The German Embassy says the Bundeswehr flew an unarmed reconnaissance mission over Georgia under the Treaty on Open Skies, using its A319 OH aircraft, together with France, Canada, Italy, Latvia and Georgia. The treaty lets its 32 member states fly such missions over each other's territory, always with a representative of the overflown country and a multinational inspection team on board. The embassy called the treaty a strong instrument for keeping the peace and avoiding misunderstandings.
Based on the German Embassy's statement (reported by GHN and Metronome). The statement does not give the date or route of the flight.
