Ramaz Tatarashvili appointed head of Georgia's Special Penitentiary Service
Ramaz Tatarashvili has been appointed head of the Special Penitentiary Service, the service confirmed to Netgazeti. He was previously director of the Shida Kartli police department. He replaces Giorgi Pataridze, who left the post on 26 October after prosecutors, investigating injuries to a detainee, asked for the director general's powers to be suspended. Prosecutors say no wrongdoing by Pataridze has been established so far.
